Back to Reality
There are times when the desire for beauty is all that you can identify with. A real beauty that transcends your ego and insecurities into something pure. Something real.
During these times, the superficial and the projections of reality become tiresome and even can provoke anger.
For these times, I have been so grateful for the beauty of the mundane. The beauty found in architecture. These are the cracks found in the walls of a beautiful building. The beauty within the plant blossoms after almost dying. And the beauty found in those who don’t feel the need to project a false version of themselves onto others’ egos or insecurities.
You can say it is the desire to find beauty in things others seem to think are broken.
It is ironic that those who see brokenness as weakness are those who “try to live forever.” In reality, it is within the brokenness: the wrinkles in your skin, the sickness in health, the loss of financial “success,” and the loss of who you think you are in the eyes of others, actually becomes the gateway to freedom and joy.
Many changes in my life spurn the need to reinforce this truth. And it amazes me that a single image or picture can ignite this deep desire within your heart and soul. So, for that, I am grateful. I am thankful for the reminder that true beauty, real beauty, is only found through brokenness and sacrifice.
