There are times when the desire and yearning for beauty is all that you can identify with.  That is a real beauty, a beauty that transcends your ego and insecurities into something pure.  Something real.

It is during these times that the superficial and the projections of reality become tiresome and even can provoke anger.

For these times I am so grateful for the beauty found in the mundane.  The beauty found in architecture.  That is the cracks found in the walls of a beautiful building.  The beauty within the plant that blossoms again after almost dying.  And the beauty found in those who don’t feel the need to project a false version of themselves onto others ego or insecurities.

I guess you can say it is the desire to find beauty in things that others seem to think are broken.

It is ironic that those who see brokenness as weakness are those who “try to live forever.”  When in reality it is within the brokenness: the wrinkles in your skin, the sickness in health, the loss of financial “success”, the loss of who you think you are in the eyes of others, actually becomes the gateway to both freedom and joy.

I guess there are a lot of changes happening in my life that spurn the need for reinforcement of this truth.  And it amazes me that a single image or picture can ignite the deep seeded desire that you yearn for within your heart and soul.  So for that, I am grateful.  Grateful for the reminder that true beauty, real beauty, is only found through brokenness and sacrifice.
